　　重庆主城区依山而建且穿街走巷还需爬坡上坎，但看看现在的重庆人依然活得潇洒自在、轻轻松松。这不能不提到重庆的一绝，在重庆的大街小巷都会看到三五成群的农村人，人人手中持一根棒棒.他们被称为棒棒军。棒棒的业务范围大到货主的大件商品如家具家电。小到市民买的一两把小菜，价钱也是随口喊，三言两句便将价钱敲定。货主在前面打甩手，棒棒扛起货物紧相随，重庆人不怕棒棒把东西拐走，他们大多诚实可信，有自己的职业道德。他们从农村到城市乾活，靠的是自己的双手。他们的辛勤劳动为千家万户提供了方便。
　　在新时期的今天，棒棒已逐渐发生了质的变化，从散兵游勇集有向集体过渡的趋向，有的集体参加了用人单位规范培训，从事用人单位的体力劳动活动，统一服装、统一管理。并涌现出了帮助妇幼病弱、见义勇为的感人事迹，为山城人民津津乐道。
